Asger Jorn, Letter to my Son, 1956-57
From the Tate Collection:

Letter to my Son is one of Jorn’s most ambitious paintings of the late 1950s, the period in which his international reputation was established. The title refers to his son, Ole, who was born in 1950. It is one of a number of works by Jorn that refer to families and childhood. The layered composition includes at least a dozen frenetic figures, loosely delineated with great energy. They have a spontaneous urgency that recalls the children’s drawings that Jorn admired during his CoBrA period.

A couple more drawings and an update.

RAW this past Thursday was really fun. I met lots of nice people and sold several prints and originals. I still can’t get over it when people buy originals from me. I kind of hope I never do. Thanks to the three lovely ladies who follow me here on tumblr who stopped by my display! How fun meeting followers in person!

Of course I did not take a single picture of the event. I’m hoping some of the professional photos will surface eventually so I can share them with you.

Special hello to artist Jessica who was my friendly neighbor at the event and to Josh who takes lovely photos and whom you can follow on tumblr.

Finally, are you guys tagging your artwork posts using the artists on tumblr tag? If you don’t make art you should still follow the tag. Lots of great stuff going on around here!
